Not a lot happened this week, but I hope you enjoy the email anyway.
Monday: For P day we went fishing for most of the day and got
sunburnt. I bought sunscreen later that day. We went with Eldorado to
the Pollastro's pond to fish. We caught bluegill and bass. Brother
Mayberry came with us and he told us we could go to his house to see
how to fillet a fish. It was pretty cool, but kind of morbid because
the fish were still alive. Then we went to the Kennedy's to play
Monopoly then the Mayberry's took us to the Golden Corral out in
Carbondale to eat. Then the Mayberry's came out with us to see a less
active and they had very powerful testimonies. It was a good lesson.
Tuesday: We rode bikes all day. The entire day was filled with
tracting and trying potentials. Then we ate dinner with Sister Webber,
an older lady who is a recent convert. Then Brother Behan took us to
try and see some people in Herrin and Energy. We saw a man named
Stephen who is a less active because he is a coal miner and he gets
called in all the time. I realized that day that there is a lot of
coal mines out here. Then we saw a less active family who is really
into scouting and then wanted to buy us food. They were a very nice
family.
Wednesday: While tracting, a kid that was about 6 years old answered
the door and just said "Lose it." We laughed and asked if his parents
were home. "No. Now lose it." And slams the door. It was very funny.
CJ came out with us and we saw a less active who had a lot of health
problems. We just listened to his story about his current testimony
and then left. Then we had dinner with the McGrath's who had very good
burgers. Then Brother McGladdery came out with us and we saw a
potential and finally was able to setup a return appointment with her.
She said she read the pamphlet too, so that was awesome! Then we saw a
less active who had the most southern accent I've ever heard since
being in Illinois. Then we went to Benton to try another less active
and then got DQ. Cotton candy blizzards are back!!! Then we went to
the Kennedy's to attempt to fix their Wifi. Or as Corey calls it,
"Porquefi." He is going to Columbia on his mission in a few months.
Thursday: We went to Herrin that morning and saw no one. That's not
true, we set a return appointment with an investigator and tried a
bunch of people who weren't home. So we ate lunch at the Kennedy's and
taught the restoration to their neighbor. He said he would read the
Book of Mormon, but we couldn't come back until August because he will
be on vacation until then. So we saw Corey's grandma with Jody Kennedy
and taught her more about the Book of Mormon. She said she wouldn't
mind reading it with us. Then we tried our set appointment for the day
and then went tracting. Then we went to dinner at the Crawford's and
had Navaho Tacos. They were delicious.
Friday: We had district meeting and the last day we will see President
and Sister Andersen. We had interviews with them and it was very
spiritual. They gave us their home emails and pins for our suit
jackets that say "Tennessee Nashville Mission." Then the entire
district, except the Sisters of course, went to the Paducah Elders
apartment and ate lunch there. Then Eldorado and Foxcroft had
exchanges and I went to Eldorado. Elder Andrus and I tracted and I
basically explained Persona to him and about all the games I used to
play at home. We also went to the hospital that day and went to the ER
because Elder Andrus had a rash on his face and didn't know where it
came from and Sister Andersen approved of him going to the hospital.
It was Poison Ivy.
Saturday: Elder Andrus and I were taken to a town up North called
McLeansboro by a member to be taken to an appointment. The funny thing
is though, Elder Andrus never took he phone with us and forgot it at
the apartment and didn't even confirm the appointment, so it was kind
of awkward with the member since he drove us up all the way there for
nothing. But it's okay because he tried a potential with us and it was
a good lesson. Then we saw another potential and she got super into it
when we told her about the First Vision. She got really excited and
said she would read the Book of Mormon. Then we tracted and I went
back to Foxcroft.
Sunday: We went to church and had a nice time there. We finally had
students in our gospel principles class that we teach because there
were some graduating young women. So now we have a class to teach!
Nothing else happened.
Huh. I guess I did do a lot. I guess it didn't feel like it at the
time. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this week's email! I love you! Have a
good week everybody!
